Fully Active Chain and Sprocket Ankle Exoskeleton for Rehabilitation Assistance

Aeden Gillam – Project Manager/Logistics Manager/Financial Manager/Web Developer

Aeden Gillam was the Project Manager of the team. He facilitated team meetings and ensured all requirements have been met to an acceptable standard. He facilitated frequent email, online, and in-person communications from over fourteen different parties throughout the project development, including the client, the team, vendors, manufacturers, the Biomechatronic Laboratory, and the NAU Capstone purchasing team. Aeden worked with a variety of manufacturers to ensure that the exoskeleton designs are machinable and created the proper adjustments when needed. He kept a detailed account of all expenses and even found a discrepancy of $86.25 that was reported by the Capstone purchasing team, which was soon updated. Aeden created a substantial portion of the Capstone Website alongside Zhi Liu.

Zhi Liu – CAD Engineer/Web Developer/Technical Specialist

Zhi Liu was the CAD Engineer of the team. Although this was the title he was given for the project, he held a greater responsibility by acting as the sub leader for the team when the Project Manager is in need of assistance. Zhi Liu had an active role in organizing group meetings and ensuring the completion of all requirements. He aided Aeden Gillam in the communication with the client and redesigned Capstone parts to ensure manufacturability. As an individual, he made significant contributions in the CAD modeling of the ankle exoskeleton, created the website and the structure needed for future development, and had the role of being the technical specialist for the group. The role of technical specialist was not intended at the start of the project, but Zhi’s expertise in creating the PowerPoint presentations, the excel files used to regulate finances and monitor deadlines, the reports of project updates, and having the role of the CAD Engineer resulted in the team designating him as the technical specialist.

Estefania Cordero – Test Engineer

Estefania Cordero is an introverted individual, yet this characteristic helps her be more observant on the smaller details. She is also creative, which aids in the initial drawings of an idea or project. Estefania facilited the testing procedures of the project, creating a detailed account of what tests could be conducted to test the customer and engineering requirements, how to perform each test, and what material is required. She and the team worked together to acquire the results of the test, which quantified the satisfaction of the project requirements.

Raffy Campano – Manufacturing Engineer

Raffy Campano is an ENTP. He is an individual that is passionate about the things he is involved in. He is very creative when it comes to solving problems and always strives for improvement. Raffy is responsible for ensuring that the project testing goes well and that each trail is documented with accuracy. As the Manufacturing Engineer, Raffy contributed to a large portion of product assembly, including sautering the spacer inside the bottom sprocket and updating the screw that attaches the motor bracket to the carbon fiber tube in order to decrease slippage of the bracket.

Noah Farris – Design Engineer, Certified SolidWorks Engineer

Noah Farris is quiet, though not afraid to voice his opinion. Being quiet, he can observe and listen to all ideas with an open mind. As the Financial Manager, he is responsible for communication with the front office about purchases and monitoring the budget by overseeing all purchases relative to the project. He is also responsible for updating and keeping track of the Bill of Materials as the project moves forward.
