The project requires the analysis and design the Cave Creek Water Reclamation Plant (CCWRP)  facility for a community in Phoenix and Cave Creek, Arizona. The AZ Water Student Design Competition is an annual competition organized by the AZ Water Association and Water Environment Federation (WEF). This project includes analysis on the overall treatment process including pump selection, concentration calculations, hydraulic analysis, future population estimation, life cycle cost analysis, demand flow calculations, and design size calculations.

Project Location

The project that was given to the team for the 2022 WEF competition is located in Cave Creek, Arizona. This city is found northeast of the state capitol Phoenix. The CCWRP, specifically, is located far south of the city to the Phoenix Sonoran Preserve being  just west of the facility.

All tasks must be completed for this design competition can be found in the link below.

Constraints that were considered included regulations that are stated within the EPA such as  The Clean Water Act (CWA), under Title 18 Environmental Quality Chapter 11: Department of Environmental Quality – Water Quality Standards Section R18-11-303 expresses the requirements needed for the treated water to b e classified as Class A+ reclaimed water.

When reviewing state and county regulations, the CCWRP permits are approved by AZNDES which is a department under AZDEQ.

Our team focuses on efficiency and organization in order to complete our project in the safest possible way. One of the main aspects to organizing our project and introducing the schedule to our client is establishing a Gantt Chart.
