SAE Baja

The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Baja Collegiate Competition is an engineering competition where students work towards designing and fabricating a small off-road vehicle to compete against 100 other universities from around the world. The goal for each team is to design a single-seat, all-terrain vehicle to compete in various dynamic and static events. The design will be a prototype for a reliable, maintainable, ergonomic, and economic production vehicle targeted for the recreational vehicle user market.

Team Goal

The 2020-2021 NAU Baja team came in 5th place overall during the previous season. This serves as a strong base to iterate and improve upon. SAE Baja Competition rules give additional points for having an AWD/4WD system. Goal for this season is to minimize weigh, implement AWD, and use an electronic continuously variable transmission (ECVT).
