NAU Solar Thermal Capstone

Mission

The NAU Solar Thermal Capstone team has been tasked with developing a Solar Thermal heating system that will be implemented on NAU's Engineering Building. The design will reduce the engineering building’s demand of natural gas from NAU’s south campus natural gas heating plant and take another step toward carbon neutrality on campus. The team will utilize engineering concepts of fluid mechanics and heat transfer to accomplish this task. The proposed design will not only heat the building sufficiently, but also produce enough savings so that the design will pay for itself within 5 years of implementation.
